Labyrinth Story 5: Perimeters

Moving enough earth to create the basic sunken shape was apparently just the beginning and only an approximation.

Now I had to figure out the exact perimeter and the width and depth of the paths. I had originally thought seven circuits would be ideal.

It took lots of staking, measuring, sleeping, re-staking and re-measuring and re-sleeping and so on to finally get something that seemed to work.

Incredibly, it worked if the diameter were 40 feet wide, the paths were forty inches wide, and the labyrinth was forty inches deep (with each of five circuits dropping 5 inches.)

Forty felt like a very good number.
