Splendor Solis: “The Philosophers’ Stone is produced by means of the Greening and Growing Nature.”

THE FIRST TREATISE

In the Following Treatise We shall Discourse on the Origin of the Stone of the Philosophers and the Art How to Produce It.

The Philosopher’s Stone is produced by means of the Greening and Growing Nature.

HALI the Philosopher, says thereof: “This Stone rises in growing, greening things’. Wherefore when the Green is reduced to its former nature whereby things sprout and come forth in ordained time, it must be decocted and putrefied in the way of our secret art. That by Art may be aided, what nature decocts and putrefies, until she gives it, in due time, the proper form, and our Art but adapts and prepares the matter as becomes Nature, for such work, and such work provides also, with premeditated Wisdom, a suitable vessel.

For Art does not undertake to produce Gold and Silver, anew, as it cannot endow matter with its first origin, nor is it necessary to search our Art in places and caverns of the earth, another way to work and with different intention from Nature, therefore does Art also use different tools and instruments.

For that reason can Art produce extraordinary things out of the aforesaid natural beginnings such as Nature of herself would never be able to create. For unaided Nature does not produce things whereby imperfect metals can in a moment be made perfect, but by the secrets of Our Art this can be done.

J:L: I don’t get it…I’ve always thought of myself as having a mind for symbol and metaphor…but some of this alchemical stuff just leaves me scratching my head.

D:O: It’s merely a punctuation issue Jenna. For unaided, Nature does not produce ‘perfect’ things whereby imperfect metals can in a moment be made perfect, but by the secret of our Art this can be done. So , we aid Nature in producing gold from base metal. She can’t do it by Herself.

K:C: It is at times like cabbages and kings.
“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
    “To talk of many things:
    Of shoes–and ships–and sealing-wax–
    Of cabbages–and kings–
And why the sea is boiling hot–
    And whether pigs have wings.”
My nature is perfect as well my soul and it does not need me to refine it but for me to get out of the way and let its perfection shine through.
What we are experiencing here is a lack of consensus. The purpose of all dialogue is to arrive at a consensus, and that is what David Bohm called ‘meaning’ He ventured to say that the Universe was held together by ‘meaning’. Consensus and meaning are the corner stone to erect the perfect edifice.

K.C: J.L – yes you can define your goals and understanding through symbol and metaphors, your special quality, your motivation of the heart. This motivation is the Divine Feminine which is needed to finally balance our lives with nurturing, caring, rational judgment, insight and long term vision, restoring Love for people, places and things. This is no secret, those with eyes to see.

J.L: Thank you, Knox! The only thing I would question is the idea that dialogue is engaged in to reach consensus. That could happen, but more importantly dialogue opens up new vistas to be able to see a situation from different perspectives…hopefully, out of this a new understanding is born. Perhaps that is what you mean in an overall sense.

N;H “Don’t only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets, for it and knowledge can raise men to the divine.”

K.C.: J.L. — Yes the new understanding is the new consensus. The meaning is that we come together, to dialogue to resolve or build on something.By consensus I speak of something more tribal. A collective activity which gives voice and expression to each one then a dance of unity or trance where the collective oneness is once more experienced.(healing)

    A.F.: Repurposing matter…

J.H: @J.L I am with you on how obscure the alchemical texts are… I am reminded of the lyrics, “Don’t much much about the middle ages, I just look at the pictures and I turn the pages.” I sure do like the alchemical images.

J.L.: Yes, Steve, I love the imagery as well!

K.C. We have a consensus about the alchemical images.Who doesn’t like and old man with the sun, moon and stars flying around his head with a smoking vase and a medieval Brunson burner on the table.

G.O. Alchemy is the highest stage of chemistry. Its domain is the connection between the transformation of both, substance and consciousness. One can also say that alchemy is the “chemistry of consciousness”. Symbolically this double transformation is presented as making gold. Gold is the purest chemical element, which is rare to connect with other elements, because it has all atomic characteristics within itself united. The same applies to the purest consciousness, the “all-mighty-consciousness”, which unites in itself the whole circumference of the All. The imagery used in alchemy speaks to us in subtle ways that appeal to us on many levels, most of which we are not conscious of….we just like them “for no particular reason”…..and this is the point where we can begin to unravel our own mysticism, as all we do in life has a reason because we are subject to the law of cause and effect.
